I don't give a SH*T about Lindsay Lohan!!!

Really?! Does Lindsay Lohan really deserve to have tv coverage 24-7 just for being a complete f-up??? I am so sick of hearing about her every night and how she's going to be in jail like a minute...C'MON who cares?! There are people doing great things around the world, wars to cover, even sports -- I don't care....Lindsay is just another movie star that has fallen to drugs and alcohol...I feel bad for her and really hope that she gets the help she needs...However what I don't need is to be updated daily on her life!

This next video is of The Dave Brubek Quartet from 1961.  I have seen Dave and his boys twice already at the Newport Jazz Festival and am thrilled to see him a third time in just a few short weeks when he'll return to Newport as a special guest of Wynton Marsalis in celebration of his (Dave's) 90th birthday! I found an old record in MA last week that is of Dave and his quartet live from Newport 7/3/1971...do you think I can maybe get him to sign it??? I'm sure gonna try! Enjoy :)

Just a few days after the Newport Jazz Festival I'll be heading to Gilford NH to the Meadowbrook US Cellular Pavillion to see Sublime! I never EVER thought I'd have the opportunity to say that I would be seeing Sublime LIVE but they recently found a new lead singer (Rome) who is apparently fitting in just nicely :)  This is the video to one of my favorite Sublime songs (it's really too difficult to call one song my favorite...there are just too many!)

Auntie *M*...round two

So being an aunt is definitely something that isn't new to me....however being an aunt to nieces (who are actually way younger than I am) is definitely somewhat new.  I was an aunt the second I was born since Foxy and Mike had Chris 2 years before me...then came along Jeremy and eventually Jason (my brother's son).  I now am blessed to now have 1 niece and 2 great nieces whom I love very very much!


The twins came along first (born May 19, 2009)....Jeremy & Angela definitely make some beautiful babies! I love these little girls so much that I can barely talk about it without tearing up.  I am very lucky to live so close to them and get the opportunity to babysit or visit often.

A few short months after the twins were born, Isabelle Agnes Bryant came along! 


She surprised us by coming a few months early but after 3 months with the great nurses at MMC in the NICU and some amazingly devoted parents she was able to go home and begin her happy life! Izzy was born November 8, 2009 and "belongs" to Treston's sister Shannon & her husband Steve.  She is a beautiful little girl who had a rough start and is now doing just great!

Survivor: Pond Island, July 4th Weekend 2010

Tra la la! 

Well it was decided this year that the trip to Pond Island would be a small UMM Reunion including myself, Fickett, Sara (aka Mim), and Larae....and of course Ma & Pa Fickett! I went up a day early and met Fickett in Ellsworth to grocery shop and what not before heading 'down east.' The next morning Mim and Larae arrived and it was off to the island for the next two nights!

Let me start off by saying that this is a true camping experience--no lights, no running water! It is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been...It is basically unheard of to see a person on this island that is not relaxed and happy :) 

The entire weekend was full of lounging, tra la la'ing across the island to the lighthouse, playing games, and catching up on the happenings of everyone's lives.  We also reminisced a bit...stories of times at UMM....good lord I can't believe the way I acted back then hahah! But we sure had fun! 


Before Brenda and Craig left the 2nd day we were there we had a bit of a 'photo shoot.' We had a lot of laughs and here are the pics that we came up with:

I think that it's pretty safe to say that a great weekend was had by all! I just hope this is something that we can do again next year--it is so hard with busy lives and work and all that stuff to find time to enjoy time with the life long friends you met years ago....we will make it happen again though I am sure :)

Sick JuneBug = Sick Megan :(

So I have often wondered how long it actually does take a person to *catch* an illness from someone...well its roughly about 2 1/2 days. 

Ya see mom came to visit last weekend and go to my cousin Courtney's wedding...well we were visiting Jerm, Ange & the twins when she all of a sudden yelled "we need to go NOW!" We just made it back to my house before she started puking, etc...It was awful!!! I felt so bad and so helpless...June definitely does not like to be sick and I definitely do not like seeing her sick.  I did my daughterly duty however and took care of her until she was able to go home late Sunday morning.  Monday afternoon my tummy started to hurt and yup it was all downhill from there--however I am happy to report that it wasn't quite as bad as it was for mom. 

Now it's Tuesday evening and I'm finally feeling better after one hell of a night last night. I spent my day reading my new book The short second life of Bree Tanner...yup the new Stephanie Meyers book--it was only 178 pages so I finished it with no problem. It was a pretty great short story but sad that she was such a great character that couldn't be developed more (we already knew from Eclipse that she dies her final death).

On a good I weighed myself this afternoon and was sooo psyched to see that I was down to 177lbs! I know it's only because I've been so sick but it's 1 pound away from my goal of 176! It'll probably come back as soon as I start eating again but for the moment I'll enjoy it haha :)

RUN MEGAN RUN!

I don't have much to write about tonight but I just wanted to note that I ran TWO miles today non-stop while at the gym!!! I am so excited with my progress lately and I'm really feeling good about myself :)  This week my goal is to finally get UNDER 180 lbs! As of yesterday I was still around 181...I know I can do it and this is the week for me...gonna work hard and eat right and hopefully reach my goal by Saturday ! WOOHOO!

Also--just talking to Fickett and trying hard to figure out a weekend to go to the Island this summer---Who knew the two of us would be so busy we'd have trouble finding a weekend that we both had open! We are thinking 4th of July weekend....I need to get over there to find my nose ring LOL .... its such a wonderful island so peaceful and away from everything. I mean it's not like you can go tra la la'ing just anywhere! Keeping my fingers crossed :)

That's it for today...back to work tomorrow--gotta work at MMC too so it'll be one long day. Mom will be here on Thursday and staying till Sunday which is great...I hope we get to do something fun together :)

Memorial Day Wkend 2010

Well almost a year later and I'm finally getting around to my 2nd post! A lot has happened in the past year but I'll spare you most of the details and start from this past weekend....

Memorial Day Weekend 2010

It's been a pretty eventful weekend...lots of friends, family & fun! It all started on Friday night when I went to the gym w/Sara. We have been working out hard lately at SS&F and on Friday she pretty much forced me to try Zumba class...I was VERY against it but had SO much fun! My hips don't really move like the teachers do but oh well I'm sure I burned a few calories trying :) When class was done I decided to stay and go on the treadmill for a few minutes. I have been wanting to *attempt* to run lately (esp after seeing the biggest loser finalists run a marathon) but haven't dared to try-assuming that I'd fail. I've never been able to run very long/far but I figured if I could run at least a 1/2 mile I'd be pretty happy. Well I got on and started running and ran a whole mile w/no problem! I was pretty excited that's for sure--I know it's not much for most people but I was proud and hoping that in time I can work my way up to 2 or 3 miles at a time!

Saturday started off with another good workout w/Sara and her new neighbor Sonja...we went to Group Step class. It was a hard class but a lot of fun..and I think Sonja officially hates us lol. I love the instructor on Saturdays- she's so full of energy (even when she wasn't feeling well!) and makes the time go by quickly. Later on Saturday Treston and I set out to find a new bike (after returning my crap one to walmart). We ventured out to Cape Able (or is it Abel?) in Kennebunk only to find that it closed-for good, so we turned around and headed to Saco to Gorham Bike & Ski where we found an awesome hybrid! It was a little more money than I wanted to spend but I think in the long run it'll be worth it :) I couldn't wait to get out riding but when we got home we went next door to a BBQ with our neighbors. We had lots of food and met some new people and before I knew it it was time to head to Portland. Jerm and Ange picked me up and we headed out to the GLB to meet up with even more people. The rest of the night included some drinks, yummy food and great friends! Even Lynne came over with Kristine which was pretty cool too! I hadn't seen her in years and we had a lot of fun talking about the good ole days back at UMM...what we could remember of them anyway!

Sunday started off with a couple of fun filled hours at the gym...we did TWO classes and I left exhausted--we then ventured to Biddo to get an Oreo softserve ice cream but only to find the place hadn't opened yet *tear* Oh well...a caramel iced coffee hit the spot just as well :) I headed home and spend the rest of the afternoon w/Treston Rob Christina and the boys working on our yard...which looks fabulous now! Tyler and I played pass with the softball for a little bit too--he's going to be one heck of a baseball player one day! Once they all left I set out for my first bike ride down Simpson Rd. I went only a couple of miles since my legs were still tired from the morning but I had so much fun!@ I found that I'm deathly afraid of getting hit by a car but I think I'll get used to it as time goes on.

And finally...Memorial Day! No gym today...I had told Sara that I'd be going out on the boat pretty early so I couldn't work out but we didn't end up leaving until after noon hehe oops! Our afternoon was spent out on Sebago Lake with Arnie & Cher. We even brought Guntherboy who def enjoyed his time out on the water. It was a beautiful and warm day however the sky was full of smoke being blown down from some large forest fires in Quebec....it looked like fog or a hazy summer day but the weather itself was perfect. I'll post a couple of pics tomorrow once I upload them to my computer.

Now it's about bedtime and I'm laying in bed...listening to Treston breathe slowly and Gunther snoring behind my head on the pillow. I love moments like this--peaceful. I love my boys so much :)
